The history of WordPress began with two developers, Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little, who developed a new blogging platform to replace the b2/cafelog software in 2003.  After it was announced that the software project would no longer be continued, they immediately developed WordPress.

WordPress dominates as the most preferred content management system (CMS) platform. Of all the websites that use content management systems, 64.8% of them use WordPress.  In fact, WordPress powers over 40% of all websites in the world.

While WordPress stated as a blogging tool, it has envolved into a powerful website builder and a robust CMS.  The best part about WordPress is that it’s easy to use and flexible enough to make different types of websites. That’s the main reason why WordPress has grown so much in popularity.
